Connect What's your favorite thing to bake?

I love baking cakes to decorate with my homemade fondant, which allows me to use my creativity to sculpt the decorations by hand. I also love making my own version of traditional desserts, like my tiramisu cake and my lemon cream cake, a cake version of a lemon pie. These allow me to explore and combine my knowledge and experience as a food technologist (professionally developing formulae for commercial baking products) and my longtime passion for traditional baking.

How long have you been baking?

I got into to the world of commercial baking in 2007, thanks to my job, where I developed industrial formulae for baking products. In 2017, I discovered my passion for traditional and artistic baking when I entered an institute to train as a pastry chef. Since then, I have been working on perfectionating my skills with training and workshops. In 2018, I opened my small baking business, "Casa Dulce" inspired by my great-grandparents' food business in the 60s, "La Fundadora".

What would you do with the $20,000?

I would invest in workshops to keep improving my techniques and skills, particularly decoration with frosting and fondant sculpting. I would also invest in better equipment for my business, which I run from home, where I have my small baking area. Moreover, I would add to my funds to open a physical location for my bakery shop in the future.
