Learn MoreReally anything with fall flavors or fresh fruits. My favorite bakes are ones that make people happy. Like when they see my gluten-free oatmeal creme pies it reminds them of their childhood, but better. Because it’s baked fresh and without preservatives. The other bakes I’m known for are my cinnamon apple donuts, vegan pumpkin cake bars, Salvadoran quesadilla, and my moist, dark chocolate cake.
How long have you been baking?I started baking in high school so it’s been about fourteen or fifteen years. I’ve provided goodies for friends’ baby and wedding showers for years and am self taught with everything I do. I enjoy being inventive and testing out new flavors since I’m a seasonally driven baker. For instance, my Chai tres leches has been a hit!
What would you do with the $20,000?If I won, I’d use the money to outfit my own dedicated commercial kitchen to expand my business. This would allow me to sell my goods to other businesses so more people could learn about Honeybee Baking. I’d be able to teach and host baking classes, take on bigger custom orders, and, hopefully, create a space for the community. Food is a labor of love and a communal experience; and I want to continue sharing that with everyone. I’d love to provide jobs and share this dream.
