My loved ones’ favorite birthday cake! Baking is not only my love language, but I enjoy experimenting with different flavors and learning new techniques. Some examples are a Chocoflan (Dominican recipe of a half flan-half chocolate cake) or my grandmother’s famous carrot cake. I also enjoy making breads, bagels, and pizza!
How long have you been baking?I’ve been baking ever since I can remember. I was raised by my humble yet loving grandparents in Dominican Republic who recognized my abilities and signed me up for baking classes from a very young age to allow me to develop my safety and creative skills. I grew up baking cakes any chance I could get for everyone around me because it brought me joy seeing them enjoy something I made for them with time, dedication, love, and intentionality. It fulfills me.
What would you do with the $20,000?With my current creative strategic experience and my educational background in business and entrepreneurship, I’ve been developing a business plan to start my own baking business inspired by my culture, my childhood, and my community. I’d use the winning prize to start my company and continue to invest in real estate to acquire passive income to allow myself to spend my time on what I truly enjoy, baking with love!
